Halagos y críticas: Impacto percibido en la imagen corporal entre hombres de orientaciones sexuales diversas

El objetivo de este estudio es analizar el impacto percibido de los comentarios positivos y negativos sobre la apariencia física emitidos por parejas románticas, así como comparar estos efectos entre hombres de orientación sexual dominante y no dominante. Participaron 42 hombres jóvenes que respondieron una entrevista estructurada acerca de los mensajes verbales y no verbales que habían recibido sobre su cuerpo y la forma en que estos influyeron en su autoimagen. Mediante un análisis cualitativo de contenido se identificaron categorías de mensajes positivos y negativos y sus efectos percibidos. Los comentarios positivos se asociaron con mayor confianza, aceptación corporal, motivación para el autocuidado y comodidad en la intimidad. Los mensajes negativos se relacionaron con vergüenza, inseguridad, insatisfacción corporal y ajustes en el estilo de vida. Se observaron diferencias en los tipos de comentarios recibidos y en la forma de interpretarlos según la orientación sexual. Los resultados subrayan la importancia de considerar la diversidad sexual en estudios sobre imagen corporal y relaciones de pareja.
