Abstract
This paper is based on the authors´ research and field work in the area of human
development over the past ten years. The diverse obstacles and challenges faced
during these years, in theoretical as well as practical stances, have allowed us to
develop critical thoughts on approaches to risk and resilience. We consider the
innovative potential of these practices, while not ignoring the conflicts implied
by these concepts. As such, we seek to bring for discussion a relatively new
perspective which advances in the consideration of the practical consequences
of such theoretical approaches.
