Abstract

Organ transplantation has become the established treatment and not only an exceptional option for some critical diseases as it is for renal, cardiac, or liver failures. The transplanted patient could require some emergency or elective surgery of any specialty and it may be far away from their medical transplant team. In this article we go through the specific physiological and pharmacological conditions of this population that should be considered by the medical team that is faced to a transplanted patient that requires anestesia for any surgical procedure not related with the transplant.
