The magnetic resonance has been applied to study mammary pathology for more than one decade. Its greater utility is in the
scope of the malignant tumorlike pathology, nevertheless, there are also accepted other utilities such as mammary prothesis
and its complications. The primary target of this article is to review the indications of the method in order to promote the rational
use of the technique, in cases that its utility is verifi ed or at least agreed. There is also briefly analyzed some technical aspects
and criteria diagnoses.
