Abstract

Although dependency theory has completed an important cycle and has been the first collective attempt to formulate a body of hypotheses from the Latin American region, we maintain that we are in the throes of dependency theory and literature, although this set of hypothetical formulations, models, and empirical investigations will not fall as a whole. On the contrary, articulated with previous partial explanations, they will have enriched us deeply. And it is that the first authors were undoubtedly aware of the explanatory limitations of this theory. Hence, they insisted on talking about situations of dependency, rather than on building a doctrinal "corpus", or an analytical model. But later, in happy hands, "dependency" came to assume the character of the absolute, to the point of becoming an analytical fashion, and an absolute explanation of all our ills. To this end, the particular case of Argentina is presented.
