This article presents a brief analysis of social practices in the context of mining Ordinances of the Real Casa de Moneda, also known as Ordenanzas de Huidobro. This suggests the recurring evocation of custom as a feature of Indian law in a specific area, the Norte Chico of colonial Chile. In this historical context, specific aspects of mining judicial practice, and the connotation of these forms of law and justice in the sociability of space recognized studied during the eighteenth century. It concludes with a reflection on the symbolic role of local judges in the mining districts. This paper uses some judiciary records as a basis derived from the colonial archives.
